Popular seizure self-management apps – how useful are they?

Seizure self-management apps widely used by many patients with epilepsy differ significantly in terms of features, and clinicians could benefit from becoming familiar with them, according to specialists presenting new review findings.

The researchers from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, decided to perform the review after noting the wide use of web-based seizure diary systems by patients, and the absence of any published critical review by clinicians.

They reviewed three of the most commonly used applications, for computers and mobile devices: SeizureTracker, Epilepsy Foundation My Seizure Diary, and EpiDiary.
