Predicting the development and course of MS

A 30-year follow-up of patients with clinically isolated syndromes (CIS) has identified significant baseline factors associated with the development of MS with significant disability.

At ECTRIMS, Dr Karen Chung of the University College London Institute of Neurology, UK, provided an update on the follow-up of the first London CIS cohort.

These patients underwent MRI assessment at baseline, 1 year, and 5 years. At 30 years they were again classified as CIS or MS. The MS patients were divided into two groups based on EDSS assessment (above or below 3.5).
